Intro
A portrait inside the studio
Olf de Bruin creates work for leading Dutch newspapers like De Volkskrant and international brands including Chanel. For his PR package and social channels, he needed portraits that felt connected to the world he works in — personal, tactile, and grounded in craft.
We photographed the session inside his Amsterdam atelier, surrounded by sculptures, clay work, and the kiln at the center of his practice. Using only the studio’s northern light, we created portraits that feel quiet, recognisable, and closely tied to the atmosphere of the space itself.

Challenges
Visibility without overproduction
For someone whose work already carries a strong visual identity, the portraits needed restraint. Nothing overly styled, nothing detached from the atmosphere of the studio itself. Using only the atelier’s northern light, the session stayed close to the pace and texture of Olf’s everyday practice — quiet, focused, and tactile. The challenge was to create personal branding photography portraits that feel personal enough for PR and social media, while still holding the credibility of an artist whose work already speaks loudly on its own.

Outcome
A recognisable extension of the work
The final portraits gave Olf a set of images that feel closely connected to the world he creates in — calm, tactile, and unmistakably his. Designed for PR, social media, and professional communication, the portraits carry the same atmosphere as the studio itself: natural light, quiet focus, and craft without overstatement. The result is a visual presence that feels recognisable long before any introduction is needed.
